Why are you in the fitness industry?
I have struggled with being healthy and I wanted to make a change for my family and the community that we live in. I have had several injuries that made it difficult to get started back. I realized it is possible to achieve your fitness goals even with multiple injuries. Regular exercise and proper nutrition is key to being healthy. I love working with people of all ages and have enjoyed applying my knowledge of health and nutrition in this capacity!!
What is your philosophy on fitness?
Regular fitness affects your overall quality of life, including your health and self-esteem. Fitness should be fun and you should leave your workout feeling accomplished.
When I work with a client, I take into consideration their current state of health, mind and spirit, medical history, goals and design a workout program tailored to their specific needs. Choosing exercises that are efficient and effective!!
What is your go-to work out if you just have a few minutes?
It really depends on the person’s fitness level. For beginners, walking at a brisk pace for 15 minutes trying to get your heart rate up; for more advanced people I like to do 7-10 minutes of high intensity circuit training using one’s own body weight (squats;planks;lounges;push up etc. doing 30 seconds of 15 reps with a short rest in between).
How to you stay motivated every day?
Set short term goals and then make long range goals. Make fitness fun and try to incorporate physical fitness into your daily routine (ex. Take the stairs instead of the elevator; park farther away at the stores).
Number one fitness tip?
It’s not how many times you do an exercise or how fast you do it, it’s doing the exercise properly!! Fitness is not about being better than someone else, it’s about being a better you!!
